Gift box and tag

The current Tuesday challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge  is to make elements used in gift wrapping.

I pulled out my trusty Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cart for this challenge.  I found a box and used the window option.  I wanted a fun Christmas design on the outside, but the pattern paper I have isn’t thick.  So, I pulled out my colored card stock and cut the box twice: once in the red DCWV cardstock and once in the Cloud 9 pattern paper.  Then I adhered them together before scoring.

Next, I colored and Stickled (I think I just made up a word) an Inkadinkado ornament stamp, which I then placed in the window of the box.  Using some festive ribbon and berries I made a topper for the card.

I also decided to make a tag.  I wanted to use the Peachy Keen frog stamp on the box, but the window wasn’t big enough so I used him on the tag instead.  Using my #14 Nestie labels and the patterned paper from the box, I cut out a medium-large size label.  Then I cut out a medium-small size cream-colored label to put in the center.  Next, I stamped my frog, colored him with my Copics and cut him out.  Using  my Joys of the Season Cricut cart, I cut out a hat for my frog to wear.  I using white embossing powder and Picket Fence Stickles for the white areas, and Xmas red for the trimmings, on the hat.  Finally, I attached the hat and popped up the frog.

I really like the way it turned out!

Blast off birthday card

I made this card for 2 challenges and my Son’s friends birthday.

The first challenge is 2S4Y sketch:

The second challenge is Polka Doodles.  They wanted an easel card.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw the sketch.  I saw the cutest stamp set from Waltzing Mouse Stamps that showed a rocket with a little kids face in the window.  I knew there was a rocket cut on the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cart because I used it to make my son’s birthday party invitations.  I just broke out my Peachy Keen face stamps and wa-la!  The stars are from Plantin Schoolbook cart (this is such a great cart!).  I cut two slits and threaded the embroidery floss through after I inked the edges with Stampin Up Peach Parfait.  I also popped up the rocket and stand-a-lone star.  The background patterned paper is K&Company, The Best of Brenda Walton; and the rocket paper is from DCWV, Nana’s Kids.  The plain paper is Recollections.

I hope you like it.

Spider treat bag

This week at Peachy Keens new “Faces” challenge we were supposed to make a Halloween treat bag of some sort.  I made this spider using a welded circle cut from Plantin Schoolbook cart.  I placed the pipe cleaner legs inside the circle sandwich with the treat bag and taped them down.  I added crystal Stickles to the body make it stand out.   The head is a punched circle mounted with pop dots.  I stamped the face with Peachy Keen faces in white ink and added a bow.  I am having a hard time keeping my kids from ripping it open!

I hope you like it.

Peachy Keen Challenge

This weeks Peachy Keen Stamps challenge to make something based on the following sketch:

I used the Happy Bird stamp from Peachy Keen and Picnic parade from Stampin’ UP.  Then colored them in with my new Copics!  It was fun doing all the blending but I don’t know how good of a job I did.  The paper is from Animal Cracker Stack by DCWV.

I hope you like it.

Thanks for all your comments and feedback!

I was thinking of sending this card to my friend who is going through a tough divorce.  I thought I would tell her that life is a picnic. Sometimes the ants come and try to ruin it and that’s when you need to pull out your can of Raid (or non-pesticide bug killer, or non-killing bug traps) to zap those buggers!  Then you can go on having a good picnic!

Be back soon with another challenge entry!
