Haunted Bird House

Last week on BBTB2 they had a challenge to use make a haunted house.  Well, not to many people entered so they are extending it AND offering blog candy!  And this week Polkadoodles is asking us make something spooky.

I decided to participate, but did not want to make your typical haunted house.  So, I made a spooky bird house instead.

The bird house is cut from the Stretch Your Imagination cart, the birds from the Home Decor cart, the witches hat and cape form Paper Doll Dress Up and I can’t figure out which cart I used for the moon and stars.

I used a web stamp stamped with white ink and embossed with sparkle powder.  The Moon was sent through my Xyron wrong side up and sprinkled with Martha Stewart Glitter.  Crystal Stickles was used on the stars and I used a stardust pen on the hat, cape and bird house.

I hope you like it!

Hanging By a Thread Card

BBTB2 challenged everyone to use the Sewing Machine cut from the Heritage Cart.  I thought and thought and thought about this one.  After looking through my stamp stash I found a cute little saying and thread stamp.  I wanted to make a mini card and decided to make it more vintage looking since that’s the look of the cut.

I used patterned paper from Best of K& Company and Bazzill cardstock.  The stamps are from Unity, stamped with SU Pear Pizzaz and colored with YG03, E21, E25, E29 and R29 Copics.

I hope you like it.

Thanks for your comments, I love getting feedback!

Christmas Candle Snow globe

This week at BBTB2 they challenged everybody to make something using a candle cut from a Cricut Halloween Cartridge.  I don’t have the cart, but I found a candle in the Joys of the Season cart and decided to use it.  I had so much fun making this card!  I wanted to make a snow globe with a candle in it, but I wanted the ball to be open to the inside.

I used my circular Nesties for this because I find it easier to line everything up than with the Cricut.  I cut a large circle in the card.  Then cut out a rectangle in the color I wanted as my globe (light grey) and cut out a slightly smaller circle.  Then I placed the rectangle on the inside of the card, on the back of the front flap, so you could see some of the color come through around the edges.  I cut out another large plain white circle.  I placed this on the inside of the card to when it was closed the white circle fully covered the opening in the card.

Next, I cut out the candle and all the pieces that went with it with my Gypsy.  I assembled the candle on the white paper, stacking the flame three high after I had used my Copics to color it and crystal Stickles to give it some shimmer.  I also stamped the dotted circle (Stampin Up) under the flame twice, once in orange once in yellow, just before gluing everything down.  Then I colored and glittered the holly leaves, and  added some berries I had from home decorations.  I added a ribbon, then adhered the snow globe base to the card.  Finally, I cut out more holly and blinged it up before placing it on the base.  I rounded the edges of the card and inked them with red.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Christmas stack.

I hope you like it.

Falling 4 U card

When I think of fall my mind automatically goes to leaves changing color and dropping from the trees (also football, but that isn’t as pretty of  a card!).  It’s my favorite time of year.  When I read the post on Bitten By the Bug 2 challenging everyone to make a fall themed card I couldn’t pass it up.  The rules were to use at least one Cricut cut and one stamped image.

I used the tree cut from the Wild Card Cartridge and a leaf stamp from the Falling Leaves set from Stampin’ Up.  The letters were in the dollar bin at Michaels and I cut the #4 from the Plantin Schoolbook cart.  The background paper is from Polka Doodles.  the leaves were stamped onto plaid paper from DCWV The Pet Stack.  I stamped the leaves with 4 different color inks (green, red, orange, brown) to give it that changing color look.  Then I cuttlebugged the tree trunk and leaves.

I hope you like it.

It got crazy here yesterday afternoon.  We thought my 9 year old had appendicitis.  Even the doctor said she was showing classic symptoms.  But an x ray showed she actually needed… to eat more fiber and get her insides moving again.  Life is never dull with three children!
